Hill's Prescription Diet z/d Canine Mini is recommended for adverse food reaction (food allergy or food intolerance), but it can also be used as an Elimination Diet to rule out adverse food reactions in case of chronic pruritus, otitis externa and gastro-intestinal disorders, such as inflammatory bowel disease (including colitis). This food is clinically proven to improve skin signs and resolve gastrointestinal signs in dogs with adverse food reactions. Dogs that have food sensitivities or intolerance typically experience an abnormal response to the protein in the food. This is why the animal protein in z/d Canine and z/d Canine Mini is extensively hydrolysed to minimise the risk of being detected by the immune system. The carbohydrate source is maize starch, purified to contain less than 0.3% vegetable protein and the fat source is vegetable oil and animal fat, again, purified to contain no protein.
- Single animal source of protein (chicken liver) extensively hydrolysed and reduced amount of protein - minimise the risk of allergic reactions.
- Single source of carbohydrate (refined maize starch) - limits sources of sensitisation.
- High in essential fatty acids - helps nourish the skin and coat.
- High digestibility - improves nutrient availability for patients with compromised digestive tracts.
- Superior antioxidant formula - neutralises free radicals.
Maize starch, chicken liver hydrolysate, vitamins, minerals, soybean oil, cellulose, animal fat, DL-methionine, trace elements, L-tryptophan, taurine and beta-carotene. With a natural antioxidant (mixed tocopherols).
