What does Biologically Appropriate mean?

The grey wolf is the ancestor of all domestic dogs. While years of breeding have produced hundreds of ‘different looking’ wolves, the internal workings of dogs remain unchanged. The eating anatomy of modern dogs is the same as their wild cousins, so it's no surprise that their food requirements remain consistent.

The Biologically Appropriate concept is simple: Mirror the quantity, Freshness, and variety of meat that nature evolved dogs to eat.

ACANA Classic Red is loaded with 50% meat – up to twice as much as most pet specialty dog foods.

How much fresh meat?

1/3 of the meat in ACANA is fresh, supplying essential nutrients in their most nourishing form. The remaining 2/3 are dried or oils to provide a strong and natural source of protein.

What does Wholeprey mean?

How much ACANA Classics Classic Red dog food should I feed?

The table below provides a starting point, to be adjusted as needed to maintain optimum weight and peak conditioning. We suggest monitoring your dog’s weight and adjusting portions as needed. We recommend feeding twice daily and always keeping fresh, clean water available.

Feeding Guide

Use a standard 250ml/120g measuring cup. Serve dry or lightly moistened. See your veterinarian regularly. To help maintain freshness, we recommend sealing the bag tightly and storing it in a cool, dry location.
